As we began our journey with See Rose Go people would say, “Oh, you have to meet Maddy.”  Well these people were right.

There really isn't an intro that could do justice to Madeline Jones. Either you get it or you don’t.

Madeline has been turning heads and creating headlines since before the days of social media. She and her partner started Plus Model Magazine, blazing a trail for the plus size movement as we know it today.

Maddy is known as an entrepreneur, a savvy business leader, a woman defying labels. She is a kind and trusting mentor, a wife and a mother.

Read on to learn more about this real-life wonder woman and learn a small slice of her ever-evolving story.

SRG: Can you describe your career trajectory and what brings you to where you are today?

Maddy: My career has taken me to places I never imagined. Originally I wanted to be a plus sized model. Due to my inability to devote time and money into a modeling career I stepped back into a role as a moderator of an online forum about 14 years ago. It was then that I met my business partner Valery Amador, we both worked for an online magazine called Amaze. It was very similar to PMM. When the magazine shut down she had an idea to bring some focus to the plus sizes models and asked me if I wanted to work with her on this project. PLUS Model Magazine was created 12 years ago. Through the years I've built relationships with brands, bloggers, influencers and our followers. I think that this is why we've been so successful. We listen to our followers and care for them. We bring them information they want and celebrate their successes and their style via #celebratemysize hashtag on Instagram. On a personal level I'm very blessed to have a career that aligns with PMM and the industry. I'm a 45 year old woman working in the fashion industry and this is seldom seen. We are always behind the scenes, never in front of cameras yet I've been part of 5 campaigns this year alone, I have contracts with several brands to create UGC (user generated content) for their brand and I've hosted several events and FB/IG events. What has brought me to this place is being a business woman, being kind, staying hungry and being grateful. This is the secret to my success. 

SRG: Describe your earliest memory of being interested in fashion.

Maddy: My earliest memory would have to be during the neon, distressed jean era in the late 80's. I could not find a pair of distressed jeans to save my life so I made them. I saved my money and bought mens jeans... I bleached and took a razor to them and wore them to school as if I had bought them in the store. LOL

SRG: Why do you think street style is important to fashion culture and why is it important for people to see diverse street style?

Maddy: Street Style is a way for people to wear their personality on the outside and express their love for fashion. I'm very much a chameleon so my street style can be sexy one day, grunge the next, classic and so on. It's important to see diverse street style because for so very long plus sized women were told about these RULES they needed to follow.. No stripes, no loud colors, no stripes, wear dark colors, and so on. Today's plus sized woman has tossed the rules and is feeling part of fashion in a way that she never has before. 

SRG: At See Rose Go we champion a woman’s passion, we want to see her go. You are an inspiration as a champion for women, both as a pioneer pushing the fashion industry forward and also as a mentor everyday to women in the business. How have female friends, colleagues, or strangers made a difference in your own path toward goals? 

Maddy: Oh my goodness I don't think we have enough time for me to name all the women that have continually inspired me and helped me to become the woman I am today. My mother has always been an example of strength and dignity. My business partner Valery Amador is the reason why I am Maddy Jones in this plus size industry. She saw something in me that no one else saw, she has invested countless hours into teaching me, coaching me, and supporting me. My mentor Myrna Gayle who has been my mentor since I was a rebellious and hot headed teen continues to be a source of inspiration for me. Marla Wynne is a designer who showed me who I wanted to be as I get older. She's a fierce woman who works hard and does not apologize for who she is. I have an incredible support system... I have friends in the industry that have come to walk me with during the Multiple Sclerosis walk... they send me information, they give me advice, they pray with me. And through social media I have NEW people in my life that support me from all over the world. It's an incredible feeling to have other women rooting for you. 

SRG: Complete this sentence. I last felt inspired when ___________ .

Maddy: I last felt inspired when I went to a photo shoot and the art director was a strong Latina woman of similar age. She was not mean, she was respected and demanded that respect. And boy does she work hard!!! She inspired me because she understands our culture and in speaking with her I saw part of myself in her.
