I Am Rose - Mindy Scott

At See Rose Go we are focused on you, the woman. Your ambition, passion and what makes you go. So when we meet a woman who is out there killing it - we are in awe. Mindy is a woman who truly lives and believes we are stronger together. This collaborative spirit is authentic to our culture as we celebrate each woman and hear her story. And what a story Mindy has to share!

SRG: Tell us about your path and where you are today? 

MS: Today I am a full time fundraiser, small business owner, and part time blogger. I wear many hats and I love it! I often think I need to free up more time but then when I have free time, I quickly fill it with a new idea. I love dreaming, finding solutions, and bringing people together.

SRG: You work for a non-profit with a mission to empower young women through education. How has this work effected you outside the 9-5? 

MS: I am a Director of Development for CARE, USA and we believe we can end global poverty by empowering women and girls. We do this through education and access. Our programs are vast and we have a huge impact. 

Working in this capacity has impacted me greatly! I am always thinking about what more can be done and I must say that I have grown as a feminist while working for such an empowering organization. We all deserve a chance at a bright future and I am so thankful I get to play a part in helping women and girls around the globe have a chance. We also work with men and I think this is a very important part of any solution, because if we all don’t change for the better, there will still be many hurdles. 

SRG: Top 5 event planning tips that relate to life! GO!  

MS:1) The perfect plan will never go as planned! Haha I think this is the one and only tip needed for a great event or a happy life. Set goals, get organized and create a plan but allow life to happen. With any great event, there will be surprises (good and bad) so you just have to be prepared to roll with them and make it seem intentional. 

2) another important one is to have fun and remember what the event is for/about. As a part time wedding planner, I always remind my couples that even if everything doesn’t go as planned, as long as hey are married and happy, that’s all that truly matters right? There can be so much additional pressure for them perfect photos but we can’t control Mother Nature, so we have to just enjoy what we get.

That’s only two... but those are the most important in my book.

SRG: What inspired you to create speed blogging?

 

MS: I was inspired to create @SpeedBlogging because I did a photo shoot in Chicago where I was solo with a photographer and realized that she just had to wait around while I changed between looks. I thought it would be much more fun with a friend and could keep the photographer busy while also getting more images to build her portfolio. So I started small and then expanded. We now host 10 or more bloggers and 5 photographers in these rotating photo shoots. We have so much fun! It’s a great way to meet new people and get great content.
 

SRG: How would you describe your own personal style?        

MS: Normal. Haha. I would describe myself as a normal woman with many different sides, feelings and needs. I dress based on the occasion / how I am feeling and I love that I have the ability to show the world how I am feeling each time I get dressed. Some days this means sweatpants and unbrushed hair... while other days this means an eclectic layered look with multiple patterns and embellishments. 

 

SRG: True! With so many opportunities to tell a different fashion story what is your earliest fashion memory? 

MS: I think this photo will best describe my earliest memory related to my love of fashion. I picked this look out on my own and my mom always tells me how funny it was for her to take my sister and I shopping for back to school. My sister liked classic pieces form a young age and the closest to classic I picked was leopard print. 

SRG: You are creating, dreaming and doing! What’s next for you? 

MS: I’m working on a potential start up. So that’s exciting! It’s scary, exhilarating, and time consuming. I have a lot of support but I also don’t really know what I’m doing. I have the idea and the vision, but finishing up the business plan and taking those next steps is a challenge, but one I’m ready for! We will see what happens and if nothing else, at least I’m trying.

It gets hard, but I always tell others to believe in the beauty of their dreams and to just try! You never know what could happen! Speed blogging was an idea that started with me, expanded to 4 people then to full photo shoots. I didn’t need marketing or anything crazy... just an Instagram page and my idea.

SRG: At See Rose Go we champion a woman’s passion, we want to see her go. How have you been supported lately and how have you support another woman?

MS: Oh wow! Where to start! 

First, I would say See Rose Go has supported me! I was so honored to be a part of this project and to have the chance to show another side of me. I have mostly done bright, bubbly photos and I love them, but there is so much more to me. A more serious/ focused/ intense side and I loved that they had a vision to showcase this. 

I have also been supported by my family and friends when it comes to my ideas and visions. And my husband, best friend, and partner through all of these ideas of mine is always my biggest supporter (love you Malc).
